| Cancer has taken
another beautiful soul. The first swollen lymph node appeared on
Kris February 5, 2011. He has been on the Tagamet/Benadryl treatment
for 2 years now and I am very thankful for the good quality time I had
with him. In the last 3 weeks. he has lost a lot of weight and was slowing down drastically. I suspected the cancer had figured out a way to get around the meds. I had his heart color-dopplered last week and his heart did not pose a serious threat to him. Over the last 2 weeks, he had been throwing up sporadically. Last night, he couldn’t keep anything down although he was hungry. I noticed he had a jaundiced look to him in the last few days that would come and go. He had no more energy and would be fatigued just going outside. In the past 3 days, his gums were white when he would come in and his breathing was labored. This morning I took him in to let him go from his suffering. When the vet gave him the euthanasia injection, he did not go down as most dogs do. I questioned whether she gave him enough. The inability of his liver to metabolize the injection at a normal rate confirmed that his liver had been compromised with cancer. He left this world calm and peaceful in my arms as he had come into it. A piece of my heart will always be with him. |
